Image of Urinary SystemExcruciating pain in the abdomen, commonly in flanks radiating to the lower abdomen and urethra is the most import single symptom of stone in the ureter, the collecting tube that drains urine from kidneys to the urinary bladder, the storage space. Along with pain some may have bleeding small to larger quantity and fever from urinary tract infection.
Many stones in the urinary tract block x-rays and can be seen in a plain x-rays examination. It can readily be diagnosed by ultrasonogram.
Small stones around 5 millimetres can be treated without surgical intervention. Those are usually expelled in the urine.
Slight assistance in form of;
If fails, minimal intervention to facilitate the passage of the stone through stenting may be all that is needed.
Drinking sufficient water to have an out put of around 1,5 to 2 litters of urine per day lessens chance of stone formation in an otherwise healthy person.
