Lipoma in DuodenumIt grows in size over months and years without much problem except a disfigurement. It can grow anywhere in the body, but commonly seen in the neck region, forehead and abdomen. It also can be seen in the body cavities; and near vital areas can cause problems due to pressure effect.
It is a benign tumour of fat cells; can be diagnosed basing on the above findings. A fine needle aspiration cytology will clinch the diagnosis. An ultrasonogram is also helpful. No special high cost investigation may not be required.
Lipoma near Median nerveOne important feature of this tumour is that it holes up into the surrounding tissue; if not encapsulated; failure to remove those extensions/satellite tissue may result in recurrence.
A Lipoma may very rarely turn into malignancy called a Liposarcoma.
