Fibre can be soluble or insoluble in water. Soluble fibre mostly present in oatmeal, soya, fruits, nuts and whole grains; those form jelly like mass when water is added. In tern insoluble fire mostly found in green leafy vegetables.
Soluble fibre adsorb fat present in the diet and hamper its absorption from gut. Insoluble fibre form bulk of faeces which is easily propelled by gut and the system easily gets ride of harmful toxic contents early.
Chinese researchers found those who ate the most of the healthy plant components were 11 percent less likely to develop breast cancer than women who ate the least. It has been seen that women taking more fibre have low oestrogen level in blood.
It has long been seen that long time exposure to oestrogen in the life of women make them vulnerable to develop breast cancer, which is a recognized risk factor. Also obese women are more prone to develop cancer of breast and ovary.

Though the exact mechanism by which fibre reduce the risk of getting breast cancer is not known; it is quite possible that by lowering the level of estrogen and level of fat gain, it might be working.
The connection between breast cancer risk and fibre may be small, but fiber is something that is healthy for everybody; because it also reduces the risk of colon cancer, relieves constipation and helpful for patients with diverticulitis.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's 2010 Dietary Guidelines, most Americans don't get enough fibre. The guidelines recommend that women eat 25 grams of fiber per day and men eat 38 grams, while the average Americans gets just 15 grams a day.
Increasing dietary fibre intake in the general is of great public health significance.
