Beet Juice for Hypertension and Brain Health

Beet juice is taken in some parts for hypertension. Now it has been seen that it also helps in increasing blood flow to the brain which may help elderly people to prevent forgetfulness.
This could be possible due to the amount nitric oxide content. Foods like celery, cabbage, other leafy green vegetables like spinach and some lettuce contain nitric oxide in good amount.

The good bacteria in mouth covert nitrate to nitrite that has the property of relaxing blood vessels with consequent increase blood flow and increased oxygen delivery to the parts of body. It also has been seen in volunteers to increase blood flow in the region of brain responsible for memory and prone for degeneration in old age. The increase in blood flow has been seen by using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
