The person may be depressed with lack of interest from the surrounding and fatigued. Other symptoms like loss of appetite, heart burn may be present, sleep disorders, restless legs syndrome and sleep apnea.
Pain to qualify for fibromyalgia must be present in both sides of body in similar locations; and both above and below the waist.
Tender Points There are 18 tender points, i.e. pain on minimal pressure of finger; when the nail bed appears white; and minimum 11 points out of possible18 have to be positive to be diagnosed as fibromyalgia.
Locations of tender point include:
- Back of the head
- Between shoulder blades
- Top of shoulders
- Front sides of neck
- Upper chest
- Outer elbows
- Upper hips
- Sides of hips
- Inner knees
If these features are present one may consult his/her doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.
