Sleep is affected by light. It may be due to insufficient secretion of hormone melatonin that is responsible for inducing good sleep. Light also adversely affects the circadian rhythm. That have also many adverse effects on health.
Those having less sleep at night and performing night shift duty are prone for;
- Obesity,
- Diabetes,
- Heart attack,
- Impaired immunity,
- Impaired judgement,
- Irritability and drowsiness,
- Accidents due to sleep deprivation
In a recent study, the researchers associate breast cancer to sleeping in bright light. They tested this following a group of Israel ladies. Though it is premature to conclude that bright light is associated with breast cancer, it is true that sleeping in this environment has definite adverse effects.
It is a fact that this suggestion is at least not harmful, does not cost and can be nicely adopted.
